These photos show areas of native forest scheduled to be clearfelled this year. The government claims to have already saved all the forest in Western Australia classified as ‘Old Growth Forest’ and yet areas like this are on this years logging plan.
The Forest Products Commission claims they will inspect the forest to see if it comes under the definition of OGF, however, the Global Warming Forest Group and the Northcliffe Environment Centre have long since learnt that the FPC can not be trusted and we have submitted several claims to the Conservation Commission to check the areas for OGF.
None-the-less, all it needs is for the Conservation Commission or the Forest Products Commission to find the occasional old stump and the areas will not be classified as Old Growth and will consequently be cleared.
The Global Warming Forest Group maintains its call for an end to all logging, thinning and clearing of all native forest.
